			<title>The iPhone business-ready (round 2)?</title>
						<description>&lt;p&gt;In my previous article, my largest complaint was the touch screen failing to respond properly at critical moments. Fortunately, I have not had any similar issues since upgrading to revision 3.0 of the OS. I do not know if the OS upgrade changed anything or if I have somehow improved my 'gesturing'. However, my gesturing must still need improving as I have only just recently made a single successful 'cut and paste'. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My current complaint is on telephone reception. It is anecdotal evidence only, but I believe I had much better reception with my previous Nokia E61i and Vodaphone than I now have with my iPhone 3G (3.0.1) and O2. Two examples: in an Oxford restaurant I had &quot;No service&quot; so I walked a block away until I had the tiniest reception bars showing to make a call to my wife. I accidentally called my daughter (she was dining with me and had remained at the table) who is also on O2 but has a very cheap Nokia clam shell phone. Later that week, I was in the countryside with friends. Their son needed to make a call but he had run out of credits on his Vodafone connected Samsung phone. I offered to make the call on my trendy iPhone but was unable: &quot;No service&quot;. I looked at the young man's phone - three signal reception bars.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;From this it would seem both that the iPhone is less sensitive and that O2 (mandated by Apple) has weaker coverage. 			<title>The iPhone business-ready?</title>
						<description>&lt;p&gt;After six months (into a two year service contract) with an iPhone 3G (2.2.1), I have mixed feelings. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Yes, it is pretty but the touch screen has failed me at several crucial moments. I do not know why, but occasionally the screen refused to respond to my gestures - sometimes ignoring them altogether, sometimes giving the wrong response. In each occasion I was unable either to make or receive a critical phone call. A little while later the phone seemed to heal itself and would operate as expected. The urge to defenestrate the device was very strong. A consumer may be able to tolerate this delay but as a director of a small company I find it very troubling. Its primary purpose is to be a phone and it should always work as a phone. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Unless your company is already tied into Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes, the push features are only available by using external services (e.g. Mobile Me or Google). They do work, and we use them, but I would be reluctant to allow any confidential information to pass through them.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Apps are generally quite fun and are slowly filling in the gaps for useful business related purposes. The new OS may help but I will have to wait and see.&lt;/p&gt;
